After the disappointment and despair that Liverpool fans felt following the 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Red’s faithful and general football enthusiasts alike immediately took to social media.

With fingers being pointed at both players and manager with the intention to play the blame game for Sundays defeat, a deeper pain has revealed itself right in the middle of the Liverpool camp.

Liverpool fans have always been extremely proud of their clubs solidity and togetherness, even in times of worry and crisis, however that unity seemed to be broken even before a ball was kicked against the Red’s old rival.

The evening before the clash between England’s biggest giants, many turned to social media and saw some worrying news relating to the fitness of Alexander Isak.

The Swedish international, who has had an injury riddled season since his summer move from Newcastle last summer, was rumoured to have picked a injury that would see him out of the trip to Manchester.

It has now been confirmed that Isak has sustained a minor groin injury that prevented his involvement at Old Trafford, but Arne Slot hopes that the Swede will be back next week.

Injury updates via social platforms is very normal in modern day football, however the manner of this reveal was unusual, with only one news outlet having the information.

Liverpool’s official accounts posted a team news update earlier on Saturday, which mentioned nothing about Alexander Isak’s fitness and the fact that there was anything wrong at all, most likely meaning that the club didn’t want the information of the 26-year-old’s setback to be made public.

But it was.

The conclusion that many will come to, and is highly likely, is that Liverpool F.C have a leak, which is something the club hasn’t seen in a long time.

This crack in Fenway Sports Groups’ (FSG) prized possession is not something to be taken lightly, and it comes at a time where negativity and concern follow Reds players and fans like a plague.

The potential leak just adds to what has already been a different season for last years Premier League champions, and revealing that your star striker is out for such a massive game could’ve been heavily damaging.

It also shows that the Liverpool camp is not a happy one.

When teams are winning everyone involved is happy, most likely highlighting why there were no massive leaks under Jurgen Klopp, who was very successful in keeping everything in house, with every person at the AXA feeling involved and important to the hardworking machine that was Liverpool under the German.

By no means is this just Slot’s issue, but his side’s inability to produce regular top performances has the main factor into why a leak has happened, and why there seems to be unrest within the club.

Many Reds supporter also felt a sour taste in their mouths when seeing that the news was broke by a news outlet that is virtually impossible to find anywhere on Merseyside, for obvious reasons, which really does hint at the toxicity that has infiltrated England’s most decorated club.

The main questions that surround Arne Slot is how can Liverpool get rid of this negative nature, and is he actually the right man to lead the Reds back to the top of English football?

FSG have a big decision to make in the summer regarding the manager, but getting the positivity back around Anfield has to be a top priority for the people at the helm of this mighty red ship.
