Alexander Zverev has won his second grand slam title, this time at the US Open, following a four sets win over home favourite, Ben Shelton.
The 29-year-old becomes the first German man to win at Flushing Meadows, after a 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 score line saw him create history for not only himself, but his country.
The serve of the 6ft 6 man was one of the leading factors that allowed his to claim victory out on Arthur Ashe Stadium, with an 85% first serve points won statistic over the four sets, according to Sofascore.

The German did so well at limiting the effects of the crowd on his performance, blocking them out so much that he didn’t even realise he had won the match come the end of the successful match point.
Zverev’s 100% record against the American continues, now having beaten him six times out of six on tour.

Another great day during the 2026 season for Zverev.
