Jannik Sinner has won the Rolex Paris Masters following a straight sets victory over Felix Auger-Alliassime.

The Italian claims his first title in the city of love, defeating the Canadian 6-4,7-6(4) in just under two hours, whilst also claiming the five ATP Masters 1000 crown of his career.

The Wimbledon champion had to fight hard for his first win at the Paris Masters, holding off the hardworking Auger Alliassime, especially in the second set.

The win is extra-significant, as the 24-year-old returns to ATP world number one, replacing his great rival Carlos Alcaraz at the top of the pile.

Sinner produced a flawless week on his way to the trophy, not dropping a single set in any of five matches at the event, the first player to do that at a tournament of this level since Alcaraz at Indian Wells in 2023.

These wins included a 6-3,6-3 against Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals, before sweeping past Alexander Zvervez 6-0,6-1 in only one hour and two minutes.

At times this year it hasn’t looked like the Italian would get anywhere near the world number one spot; however, the door was opened by the Spaniards shocking defeat against Cameron Norrie in Paris, allowing Sinner to overtake him.

He also tightens the race for the ATP Year-End Number 1, as he now trails Alcaraz by only 1,050 in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, meaning it will be all to play for at the Nitto ATP Finals.

As for Auger-Alliassime, he too had something on the line this week with a chance of making the Nitto ATP Finals if he performed well in Paris.

Making the final has boosted the 25-year-old’s chances of making it to Turin, as making the final has sent him up into eighth which would be enough to qualify.

The Canadian holds a 160-point lead over Lorenzo Musetti and will hope to officially secure his spot by performing well at the ATP 250 event in Metz next week.

Both Sinner and Auger-Alliassime could be playing in Turin in a couple of weeks, the questions are, will the Canadian have done enough to make it, and will the Italian end the year as world number one.

Quote of the week

“The consistency of my level during the whole tournament has been really high, which I’m really proud of.

“The three weeks I spent here are a privilege.”

~ Carlos Alcaraz, US Open 2025 men’s champion
